PEACE BEGINS WITH A SMILE...

Jason Powell

We said good-bye to a loyal member of our Sunday School class yesterday. Jason Aaron Powell was laid to rest and we were fortunate enough to attend the memorial service or "celebration of life" as his family so lovingly called it. And they were right! Jason led a wonderful life in his 25 years on this earth. It was amazing to see how many people he touched. His love for Christi, Jack, his family, friends and Jesus was so apparent during the service. Jason is in a better place now, we all know that. What a great feeling to know that not only will we see him again one day, but all of our loved ones who are faithful in Christ.

Thank you so much for your kind words and appreciation for Jason. Our hope is that the church family at FBC Coppell will continue to minister to Christi and Jack in the weeks and months ahead.

Although I will never again have the privilege of enjoying my son's presence in this lifetime, I certainly know that I will enjoy the time we will spend together in eternity. That is God's promise to us as believers in Christ and is the distinctive that allows us find hope in the midst of despair.

Jason and I were more than father and son. Our relationship had attained the added dimension of best friends. There was nothing left unsaid and nothing left undone between us and we made it a point to meet and part with "I love you".

Our hope is that every parent will take to heart the admonition to "train up a child in the way he should go." Also, take every opportunity to tell your children you love them.

If you accept the premise that your children are on loan from God, then you must also be willing to accept the terms and conditions of the loan. It is the privilege of a sovereign God to call a child home at any time.

Thank you again for your wonderful acknowledgment of my son.

My husband and I attended church with Jason and Christi at FBC Denton many years ago. We had the pleasure of knowing this wonderful couple and the love for each other and for the Lord that they both shared. I just learned of his passing a few days ago and have thought about them often. What a beautiful example of God's love through Mr. Powell's comment on your blog.
